Configuration Six

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Six

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day for 2021. This piece was the sixth of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. This piece takes up the space of the base materials and combines the work of Configuration Two and its inspiration of the planets, and Configuration Three with its original use of fine liner pen. The additional layers of the fine liner create flowing feeds from each of the forms, and planet-like rings.

Configuration Five

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint, fine liner and white pen

Configuration Five

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the fifth of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. There was an attempt at not having an aim with this piece, however throughout the motion of putting paint onto paper a plan started to form, as well as a chain of curved pieces, much like a chain. The addition of a partial washed background and deep black lines juxtapose fine white scars across the page.

Configuration Four

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Four

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the fourth in the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. Within this piece, there was a beginning of an abstract shaped worked, however this turned into a flowing clouded piece with varying depth of colour. Additional fine black lines highlight extreme curves and joins separate elements together.

Configuration Three

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Three

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the third of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. This was the first piece that involved a secondary element of black fine liners, which have added extra depth. Varying width lines draw your eyes away from the abstract blocks of colour, and into free forms.

Configuration Two

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Medium: Watercolour paint

Configuration Two

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the second in the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. This piece was inspired by space and planets, with a sense of interconnectivity with the rest of the universe.

Configuration One

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint

Configuration One

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the first of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. There was no aim with this piece, and it was based off of intuition and feeling during those moments of painting.

Feet in Threes

Date: February, 2016
Size: Individually: 50 x 70 cm
Medium: Acrylic paint, string, and tissue paper on canvas

Feet in Threes

Feet are a part of the body that are not generally explored. The different styles and mediums of each of the three canvases highlights that not everything is the same and people are different, from their perception to their feet.

Internal Strength

Date: February, 2016
Size; Individual: 20.5 x 29.5 cm, Grouped: 84 x 62.8 cm
Medium: Black biro pen on Eragon book pages

Internal Strength

At the basis of the anatomy drawing is the story of a dragon rider, Eragon. To be a dragon rider you must have strength in all parts of your body and mind. The varying gradients of the biro highlight the contrast between the drawings, and the gaps between pages. The detailed drawings reflect the work of Leonardo da Vinci, and his use of writing around and on his anatomical drawings.

Hand Prints

Date: February, 2016
Size: 18.7 x 44.7 x 4.8 cm
Medium: Clay and acrylic paint

Hand Prints

The handprints, symbolising individual identity, are painted ghostly to present a question of whether our prints can be identified as our own. There is another element to the piece in that our identity perhaps does not die when we do, but rather it only fades slightly. The unique shapes create an uneasiness, due to the body parts being in uncommon positions.

Lined Nine

Date: February, 2016
Size: 43.3 x 53.2 cm
Medium: Silver Photographic paper

Lined Nine

A triple triptych of photograms resemble how simplistic a line can be, juxtaposed by the complexity of even the smallest of things of the body. The piece visually described a turning point in the detail-orientation of the project.
