Blue Eye

Date: April 2022
Size: 8 x 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic paint

Blue Eye

This was inspired by the piece 50 Shades of Blue, focusing on one particular element – the eye. The intimate size of the canvas allowed extra detail to be painted around the layering of the paint, and the mixed colours within each patch. With no recognition for whom the eye belongs to, it sits in a sea of blues and greys.

The Rabbitts Hole

The Rabbitts Hole was a commission based on a pub sign for a local household who wanted a special addition to a planned extension. Several designs were drawn up and this one was selected by the commissioner to be painted. The design was then laser cut onto the wood so that there would always be definition of the design, and then painted over in white and then black wood paint.

Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Eight

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the eighth and final part of the series, where the watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. During the creation of this piece, there was a determination to stop due to not enjoying the creation process, however watercolours were continually applied in varying shapes to fill the page. The additional layers of swirling lines highlighted the depth and light in the colours used.

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the seventh of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Six

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day for 2021. This piece was the sixth of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. This piece takes up the space of the base materials and combines the work of Configuration Two and its inspiration of the planets, and Configuration Three with its original use of fine liner pen. The additional layers of the fine liner create flowing feeds from each of the forms, and planet-like rings.

Configuration Five

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint, fine liner and white pen

Configuration Five

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the fifth of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. There was an attempt at not having an aim with this piece, however throughout the motion of putting paint onto paper a plan started to form, as well as a chain of curved pieces, much like a chain. The addition of a partial washed background and deep black lines juxtapose fine white scars across the page.

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Four

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the fourth in the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. Within this piece, there was a beginning of an abstract shaped worked, however this turned into a flowing clouded piece with varying depth of colour. Additional fine black lines highlight extreme curves and joins separate elements together.

Date: January, 2021
Size: A4
Material: Watercolour paint and fine liner

Configuration Three

The Configuration Series came from Project 365, where the aim was to create a piece of artwork every day in 2021. This piece was the third of the series, where watercolours were explored in a new, abstract way. This was the first piece that involved a secondary element of black fine liners, which have added extra depth. Varying width lines draw your eyes away from the abstract blocks of colour, and into free forms.
