A piece created during Project 365, this piece looked at the conjunction of the layering of shapes. By only using colour in the specific parts of the overlapping shapes, the eye must concentrate on the elements that are not at the forefront of the painting.

50 Shades of Blue Mini Me
By stripping the human face into components of shapes, the artist has created a different way of viewing the highlights and shadows that curve around the features. The striking eyes stare into the distance, wanting the viewer to know what they were looking at. This ‘mini me’ version of 50 Shades of Blue further simplifies these shapes to bring them into a new medium.

Breaking the elements of the human hand into components similar to a medical muscular model, the artist has created a bright way of viewing the subject of the painting. The contrasting colours of each hand intertwining while reaching towards each other, creating a suggestion to other topics.
