Fire of my Eye

The heat of lava rolls of this piece that stares at you from across the room. This was the first piece of this style using coloured pencil, and it was found that there was more control by using these than initially thought. The more blocked style of the iris is quieter compared to painted pieces, however this still hits you with emotion. The pencil also allowed for better detail in a smaller piece.

Blue Eye

Date: April 2022
Size: 8 x 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic paint

Blue Eye

This was inspired by the piece 50 Shades of Blue, focusing on one particular element – the eye. The intimate size of the canvas allowed extra detail to be painted around the layering of the paint, and the mixed colours within each patch. With no recognition for whom the eye belongs to, it sits in a sea of blues and greys.

There was an attempt at not having an aim with this piece, however throughout the motion of putting paint onto paper a plan started to form, as well as a chain of curved pieces, much like a chain. The addition of a partial washed background and deep black lines juxtapose fine white scars across the page.
