I am personally attracted to the piece of Kher’s ‘The Skin Speaks a Language not its Own’. This is of an elephant, an iconic Indian animal, and tiny Indian bindis all over its skin. The sculpture, which initially seems very sad of an elephant seemingly lying dead or asleep, is filled with layers of meaning and depth because of the intimate connection between the two parts of India.
